Perspectives

“Men are from Mars, women from Venus”
doesn’t account for the excellent fit
of Venusian vagina with Martian penis.

Biologists certainly wouldn’t expect
so apt a relation in alien creatures
unlikely to meet, much less to connect,

which proves a nifty slogan wrong.
Our prime directive is to breed;
it’s small beer if we get along.

Our lives are shaped by ribosomes
that never spare a thought for love
or the conversations in our homes.

Women are Earthlings; men are, too.
Nature, indifferent to daily annoyances,
made us to mate, if we can, and we do.

Which tells us why, plan as we will,
it’s always a gamble to sit and gaze
into strange eyes, depthless and still;

we may find ourselves reflected there,
assuasive, warm, idealized,
as we journey off to Anywhere.

Great stuff, Word. Laughing my ass off, then I realized it was true.

Ah... yes. Physical urges and proper fitting.
Almost every living species is designed to breed with the opposite sex of it's kind.

The difference that sets us apart is in the mind and heart...
the stimulation of those two organs is equally necessary; I believe it is a pinnacle reached when one is able to find a mate who can arouse body, mind and heart.

Mating can be as basic as the physiological need to breed... or it can be raised to a much more fulfilling level. We've risen above the animals... methinks.

Well written... kind of like a roller coaster ride through twists and turns and tunnels.

Amazing then, really.

Thank you, Stebo. I think...

Scarlett, when we start thinking we've risen above the animals, we're headed for trouble, usually. Our urges certainly can lead us to disaster, but also to what we ever see of paradise. Predicting which is the problem...
